Superficial mineral deposits and exploration geochemistry, Yilgarn Block, Western Australia
A total of 78 samples from 20 deposits in the Eastern Goldfields Province were analysed for this study and combined with results from previous studies (Table 1). All samples are from well-documented Ph.D. and Honours collections at the Edward de Courcy Clarke Geological Museum at the University of Western Australia. Metals are essential for the needs, wealth and sustainable development of our society. The Gordon Research Conference on the Geochemistry of Mineral Deposits will address new research directions in economic geology and ore deposit geochemistry that will help meet the increasing resource needs for future generations.

2 Abstract The published mean δ34S values of ore-related pyrites from orogenic gold deposits of the Eastern Goldfields Province, Yilgarn Craton lie between -4‰ and +4‰. As for orogenic gold deposits worldwide, most deposits have positive means and a restricted range of δ34S values, but some have negative means and wider ranges of δ34S values. Data are provided on the biogeochemistry of more than 60 elements and, by case history examples, their roles discussed in assisting in the discovery of concealed mineral deposits. A look to the future includes the potential role of bacteria to provide new focus for mineral : Colin E. Dunn.

Weathered profiles at Callion Yilgarn Block the host of economic gold mineralization. This report starts the documentation of these profiles, which ultimately will enable us to understand the weathering processes and the distribution of gold and associated elements in the weathered profile.
Data reported here concern the mineralogy and geochemistry of the upper weathered wall-rocks from the BC Pit at. Komatiites made their first appearance in the geological literature in the late s, with the recognition of ultramafic lava flows in the Komati River Valley of the Barberton greenstone belt (Viljoen and Viljoen, ).Examples of spinifex–textured flows had been recognized at about the same time in Western Australia, and landmark papers on these occurrences appeared shortly after the.

Brown, B. Chappell. This report describes a mineralogical and geochemical study of the weathered Glasson Au deposit and its country-rocks, in the Callion area, Yilgarn Block, Western Australia. The fresh country rocks are amphibole- and plagioclase-rich metabasalts.
On weathering, the amphibole and plagioclase are initially replaced by smectites, opaline silica and kaolinite, and then, higher in the profile, by. Example 2: Geochemi* finds titles containing either geochemistry or geochemical. Geology and mineral resources of Western Australia.

Most Archaean gold ores belong to a coherent genetic group of structurally controlled lode-deposits that are characteristically enriched in Au with variable enrichments in Ag, As, W, Sb, Bi, Te, B and Pb, but rarely Cu or Zn, and are surrounded by wallrock alteration haloes enriched in K, LILE and CO2, with variable Na and/or Ca addition.
